Our Mission

The mission of the MSA Museum Society is to be the memory of the community by preserving and interpreting its history. Functions of this mandate are to preserve, study and exhibit artifacts and archival material, and to educate and entertain the public.

The Museum is a registered non-profit society that depends on government grants, private donations and fund-raising efforts to provide its services to the people of Abbotsford.

Blast from the Past! Summer Day Camp

There will be FOUR weeks of Blast from the Past! Day Camp this summer. Camps are open to kids age 6-10 and cost $90 per week, per child. Call and register well ahead of time and these camps tend to fill up fast: (604) 853-0313. Ask about sibling discounts!

Week 1: July 6th - 10th, 2009
Week 2: July 13th - 17th, 2009
Week 3: August 10th - 14th, 2009
Week 4: August 17th - 21th, 2009

Swimming, old-fashioned games, a pioneer experience, scavenger hunt, creative crafts, sports days, fun theme days, and so much more! 

Those interested in volunteering as helpers (13+) or as junior leaders (15+) should apply at the Trethewey House Heritage Site at 2313 Ware Street, or call the museum office at 604-853-0313.

MSA Museum Society's 40th Anniversary

Help to celebrate the MSA Museum Society's 40th Anniversary

Looking for a unique way to spend a sunny summer Saturday? Come down to Trethewey House and help us celebrate our 40th anniversary!

We're bringing the 1920s to life with a 20s-themed party on July 25th, 2009. Experience a traditional High Tea while enjoying musical entertainment, festivities, and a birthday cake. Come dressed in 1920s costume and be entered to win the "Best Dressed" award. Tour  guides will be available to walk visitors through the 1920s period rooms of Trethewey House.

Bring your picnic blanket and enjoy our spacious gardens as you listen to 1920s music.

HISTORICA FAIR STUDENT DELEGATES ANNOUNCED

 

Student delegates from all over the Fraser Valley competed in the Fraser Valley Regional Historica Fair on April 30th and May 1st. This Fair was hosted by the MSA Museum Society and was held at the University of the Fraser Valley, Abbotsford Campus.                                                                                     

Following the adjudication process, four students are chosen to attend the BC Provincial Heritage Fair on June 29th to July 3rd in Victoria, BC, and one student is chosen to attend the National Fair in Ottawa, Ontario. National and Provincial awards are also distributed to students who demonstrated excellence in previously determined criteria.
